Went for my birthday and reserved the tables about 3 months before. The service was great, our main waiter and others were prompt and friendly. The food and drinks were excellent, we tried a few things such as: The appetizers: - oil packed tuna 10/10 - goat cheese, hazelnut honey, grilled bread 9/10 The mains: - pappardelle al cinghiale - wild boar 5/10 not my thing - cappellacci - short rib -10/10 AMAZING - tajarin con tartufo - black truffle. 9/10 - had to try it while available Dessert: - riccotta doughnuts with sauces 9/10 Drinks: - The Italian Stallion - Zero Zero Bellini
Great food, great service, classic dark restaurant atmosphere, very very loud. Tartare tasted great, the cappellacci was light and delicious, the branzino was wonderful with crispy skin and great flavor (little on the salty side) The service was very very good, they switched the forks & knives after every dishes The noise level was pretty bad the Friday night we dinned in and I was having hard time listening what the server said. Knowing how hard to book a reservation here, I would imagine this noise issue is pretty common . Definitely will be back again!
went for a birthday and it was amazing! the burrata was without a doubt the best appetizer i’ve ever had, and the octopus wasn’t far behind. the cappelacci was amazing, a little overhyped it seems but don’t let that statement fool you, it’s still a 5 star dish and absolutely worth ordering. the quail and branzino were both seasoned well and had a very nice spiciness to them. on top of that, ordered a panna cotta for dessert and they took the dessert off the bill for the birthday! zach our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable as well. would recommend to anyone!
First time. Service, ambiance, food, & drinks were all top-notch. Goat cheese, tuna, & octopus appetizers were all delicious. The tuna app sounded a little off to me, but was absolute heaven. The wild boar, pork ravioli, & black truffle dishes were all culinary experiences I won't forget. The Italian Stallion was an added bonus. Looking forward to my next visit already.
You will always need a reservation! The food and atmosphere is beautiful & a perfect date spot I've never had a bad meal here. We got one appetizer & three pasta dishes to share - plenty of food for two. The surprise came with the after dinner dessert.
The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere in the underground restaurant with an open kitchen and sunken wine cellar was so cool!! The staff was all attentive and double checked with the kitchen when unsure about possible issues with my food allergy and found alternatives for me. They had a great wine list and lots of cocktail and NA options. I definitely recommend having a reservation.
Solid restaurant overall, but some issues to work out. First, the highlights… Floor service is excellent. My waitress was personable and knowledgeable, helping to provide some great guidance on food and beverage. The rest of the staff worked as a team and were also personable - I had the good fortune to sit at the chef’s counter, so really got to see the cooking team work their magic. The grill guy and pasta gal were fun to watch. The quail entree (protein portion) was outstanding. Best I’ve ever had. Was tender, juicy, flavorful and had the best dry rub on the exterior. Was a 10. Atmosphere is also very chill. Great space and vibe. Okay, so onto the areas needing improvement… The tomato/pepper base that the quail sat on was pretty bad. Overwhelming and acidic. Destroyed the dish. They only have 3-4 large plates so the fact this was one of them in its current state was disappointing. It would absolutely hold them back from any sort of progress on the James Beard or Michelin fronts. A riff on a white bean (Cassoulet + pancetta) or fagioli base would be an improved complement to the quail IMHO. Second was the timing of my tartare. The meat arrived, but no bread or crisps anywhere. I figured maybe a naked tartare was their thing, so asked my waitress if I could get some bread and she told me it was supposed to be accompanied by grilled garlic bread. A few minutes later it got fired up, and maybe arrived close to 10 minutes after the tartare. The lack of synchronization here should be addressed and was a head scratcher. Lastly, I was the 7th or 8th party waiting at the hostess stand to check in. You go down some stairs to get into the basement space and we were all queued up waiting. I was almost out on the subfreezing street. Almost none of the couples ahead of me were seated, just told to move to the (seatless) bar or get a drink somewhere else. Maybe have someone up top with an iPad to better direct traffic and move the queue? The couple just ahead of me were told their seats (also at the four person chef’s counter) would be available in about 30 minutes. An hour later, at 830, the couple who were doing no eating or drinking finally left the counter, and my friends from the line were finally seated. They were given some sort of ‘gratis dip’ for their trouble. I felt underwhelmed for them and would have been embarrassed if I was the owner or floor manager and this couple (celebrating a birthday) were treated this way. Anyway, it’s a decent place but a notch below James Beard nominated restaurants in other US cities.
Very cool restaurant down in a basement with a casual but upscale aesthetic. I guess it's hard to get an actual table unless you book in advance so we sat at high top table which was communal. I didn't mind sitting with other people but I did not think their high top chairs were very comfortable. We ordered a grilled bread appetizer (pictured), black truffle pasta, breaded porkloin with capers, asparagus and had their ricotta donuts for dessert (pictured). The black truffle pasta was underwhelming for the price of $58 Ala cart. The breaded porkloin was flavorful and very tender, but presentation was lacking. We both had non-alcoholic Spritz drinks that were delicious. Our waiter was charming and on point with service. I will definitely come back when I am able to book in advance to get a table and I will skip the black truffle pasta. Happy dining!
